Training with Rink Nation gives players a strong foundation to grow into high-performing athletes, but their progress depends on how much effort, focus, and consistency they bring to the process. Our programs are designed to sharpen technical skills, boost hockey IQ, and build confidence through high-quality instruction and intentional development.
While every player’s journey is unique, we’ve seen many athletes significantly elevate their game after committing to our training. With the right mindset and dedication, players can unlock new potential and be ready for whatever competitive opportunities come their way.
There's several pieces of equipment needed both for functional and protective measures. All of the equipment listed below is required to participate in any of our programming.
Player/Skater Specific Equipment
Goalie Specific Equipment
Some additional equipment that is good to have is:
Our hockey program is designed for individuals with flexible weekday schedules, providing an opportunity to engage in the sport without conflicting with evening or weekend commitments. Whether your child is new to hockey or has prior experience, this program offers structured development in key areas of the game.
Sessions run once a week, with the fall program taking place from October to December and the winter program from January to March. Throughout the program, players will focus on:
To ensure players receive instruction tailored to their abilities, we may divide participants into two to three skill-based groups, depending on registration numbers.
This is not a learn-to-skate program, so participants must have prior skating experience. However, advanced hockey skills are not required—players will continue refining their skating techniques within a hockey-focused setting.
If you have any questions about eligibility or program details, feel free to reach out. We look forward to helping players build their skills on the ice!
While the programs are not funded directly by school boards, many school boards will fund development programs (as opposed to regular hockey teams) but you should check with your specific school board prior to registering to see the eligibility if this is a concern.
For the 2025/26 season, we are running our Jr. and Sr. program
Jr. HSH | 2013-2019 or U7-U13
Sr. HSH | 2008-2012 or U15-U18
Both Jr. and Sr. groups will have separate ice times, however, all the included age groups with in the Jr. and Sr. programs will be on the ice together. Where needed and available, players will be split into groups of either the same age group and/or skill level to perform certain drills and activities.
Sessions typically take place on Tuesday afternoons from 12:15 - 1:15 PM for the Sr. group and 1:30 - 2:30 PM for the Jr. group. All ice times are at East Calgary Twin Arenas. While changes to this schedule are unlikely, they are possible.
For our homeschool hockey program we're aiming to have about a 1-7 coach to player ratio.
Please note that coach to player ratios are dependent upon overall registration numbers and while our overarching goal is to have the most appropriate coach to player ratio to best serve the players, the actual coach to player ratio, the actual coach to player ratio may change.
After the initial capacity set out in registration has been set a waitlist will be available to players interested in playing but weren't able to register soon enough.
Depending on the specific program, the number of over players both in the program and on the waitlist, we may be able to accommodate players either within the initial group or within a new group at a different date and/or time.
If you are on the waitlist and unsure, please feel free to contact us at hello@rinknation.ca

Goalie Development That Goes Beyond the Basics
At Phantoms, we recognize that goalies are often overlooked or given limited group instruction. That’s not good enough for us and it’s not good enough for your goalie.
What Goalies Can Expect
• Dedicated Goalie Coach at Every Practice – Working one-on-one and within team drills to develop both technical skills and situational awareness
• Integrated Training – Goalies are fully included in all team activities, not sidelined or separated
We’re committed to giving goalies the same elite-level experience as every other player, because they deserve it.
Our ID/Evaluation skates are designed to help us evaluate interested players and be able to place them in appropriate tiers both as individuals and as teams once things kick off.
We understand that families lead busy lives, and it’s not always possible to attend scheduled ID/Evaluation skates. If your player is unable to make it, don’t worry, we have alternative options to ensure they’re still considered. Simply complete our Phantoms Interest Form, and a member of our team will reach out promptly to discuss next steps and find a solution that works for your schedule
Our sessions focus on a wide range of hockey fundamentals and advanced techniques, including power skating, shooting, checking, puck control, offensive and defensive tactics, and hockey IQ development. We offer camps that focus on specific skills and hockey IQ development.
We welcome players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to elite athletes. Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each group, ensuring every player gets the most out of their experience.
Yes! We work with teams to create custom development plans based on their goals. Whether it’s positional play, systems training, or skill refinement, we’ll build a session that fits your needs
Most sessions take place at East Calgary Twin Arenas, but we also use other local facilities depending on availability and team preferences.
What should players bring to camp or a development session?
This depends on the specific camp, but here’s a general checklist:
• Full hockey equipment is required for all on-ice sessions
• Water bottle to stay hydrated
• Positive attitude, we bring the energy, you bring the effort
• Dryland gear (athletic clothing and footwear) for camps that include off-ice training
• Extra snacks for full-day camps to fuel up between sessions
We’ll always send a detailed prep list before each camp, so you’ll know exactly what to bring.
Rink Nation’s Tactical Skills & Power Skating Summer Camps are designed to push players beyond their comfort zones and elevate their game in every dimension. These high-intensity camps combine elite-level instruction with a well-rounded development approach, featuring 12 hours of on-ice training, classroom sessions, dryland training, and a competitive scrimmage to showcase progress.
Players work on everything from explosive first-step quickness and edge control to tactical decision-making, puck protection, and positional awareness. It’s not just about playing harder, it’s about playing smarter.
Parents can expect a structured, supportive environment where athletes are challenged and encouraged by experienced coaches. Camps are grouped by age and skill level, ensuring personalized attention and appropriate progression. Off the ice, players dive into hockey theory, video breakdowns, and team-building activities that reinforce the mental side of the game. Whether your child is looking to make the jump to the next level or simply sharpen their skills, these camps deliver a transformative experience that builds confidence, character, and competitive edge.
